Where Is The Love

Where is the Love? by Black Eye Peas

WALT identify the key ideas in a text

Success Criteria:
I can...
- find clues and evidence  to help determine the main ideas.
-combine clues and evidence to and link them to our prior knowledge to determine the main ideas.

Part of the song
What is the main idea(s) in this part of the song?
Give an example from the text that supports this idea.
Give another example from the text that supports this idea.
Express your viewpoint by synthesising what you have analysed.
-Do you agree with this part of the song? Why/why not?
Verse 1
The main idea in verse 1 is LOST and Hatred.
‘What’s wrong with the world mama People livin like they got no mama I think the whole world’s addicted to the drama”
“People only attracted to things that will bring you trauma.People joining gangs like the  big CIA, the
Bloods,the crips and the KKK”
The first verse to me is people a hating and are always lost in gangs. The problem is people is trying to be attention seekers.
Chorus
The main idea in the chorus is how there is too much hate , bad fates , and agonising over what well it is all over the loss of life and purity.
“People Killing, People dying Children hurtin, hear them crying.
Can you practice what you preach Or would
yo turn the other cheek.
The chorus has some powerful words in it that makes the song appear very realistic like as if the problems in the world rise up from agonising hate , unfaithful fate , troublesome state , and from the love that is never there or the hope and dreams were stripped from the depths of our hearts.
Verse 2
The Main Idea in verse 2 is  Discrimination and Violence
“Not respecting eachother, denying thy brother, a war is going on, but the reasons undercover”
“Nations dropping bombs, chemical gases filling lungs of little ones”
Their family are so attached to drugs and other substances
Lua- I agree with what this verse is trying to say because all around the world there are still children getting hurt and people also going against their own skin colour/nation.

Unique- I admire what this verse and how it is explaining how people and young adults and teenages are being forced to be apart of crimes and bad influencing groups of society.
Verse 3
The main idea in verse 3 is about Selfishness
I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders,
Selfishness got us following the wrong direction.

Wrong information always shown by the media,
Most of us only care about money .

Verse 4
The main idea in verse 4 is the values, equality and fairness of humanity.
Whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness and equality
Instead of spreading love
We spreading animosity
Lack Of Understanding
What is Humanity about ?, Well Humanity is about love, hope, belief, troubles, and solving everything from within the overall results of what happens in life and how it helps us to all overcome the hate that we once thought was the answer to our blunt prayers.

Lean On Me

Lean On Me

Part of the song
What is the main idea(s) in this part of the song?
Give an example from the text that supports this idea.
Give another example from the text that supports this idea.
Express your viewpoint by synthesising what you have analysed.
-Do you agree with this part of the song? Why/why not?
Verse 1
The main idea in verse 1 is our lives and to be wise.
Sometimes in our lives”

“But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow”
I agree because what I think of this verse is that in our lives we struggle and go through hard and tough times but if we think positively we will know that we have tomorrow to look forward to.

We may not have everything we want, but we have what we need.
Chorus
The main idea in the chorus is that it’s ok to ask for help.
“You just call on me brother, when you need a helpin hand”
“We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on”
I agree with the lyrics of the song because it should be ok to ask for help, or help those in need.
Verse 2
The main idea in verse 2 is Share.
“Swallow your pride If I have things
You need to borrow”.
“For no one can fill those of your need
That you won’t let show”
I agree because I think it is about your pride and for people who are in needs.
Verse 3
The main idea in verse 3 is Caring.
“Call me (when you need a friend)”
“We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on”
I agree because I think this is about friendship like when we need somebody and to understand if they have problems.

Eggshell by Michele Powles

Eggshell by Michele Powles

Looking at the first image, where do you think the story is set? Why do you think this?
It is set in the classroom where the kids are sitting down working hard except one child and the teacher Mr Clark is wandering around checking up on each and every single child.
Looking at the title what do you think the story is about?
I think it is going to be about the teacher doing a competition with the children to see who eats the most rotten eggs.
What does “Morena, tamariki ma” mean?
It means “Good Morning children”
Why was this person nervous? Would you be nervous if you were also in the same situation?
No because there are no strangers only friends.
Why couldn’t the character do their work?
She didn’t understand Maori that’s she couldn’t understand the instructions.
What were the flax kites used for in the olden days?
To signal help or to send a message to the gods.
What did they use the “ki” for?
They used the “Ki” to put the egg inside.
What do they have to do with the egg and the ki?
They had to put the egg and on the ki and it flies around and the eggs would drop so they have to catch it.
What does the terms “bragging” mean? Have you ever bragged before? If so when/why?
Bragging means going on and on about something you really really want because it is a new addition or because it is just cool. I don’t think I’ve ever bragged before.
What had Mr Clark said the young girl had learnt today?
You understand the Kaupapa game from the start.
How did the group of students work as a team in the story?
They huddled up and made a plan on how to catch every single egg.
Why did the characters mum “jump on her as soon as she got home”?
Because she wanted to know how was her first day at school.
Think about starting your first day at school, and the teacher is speaking another language, how would you feel? Would it make the situation much scarier?
It would make me feel uncomfortable because I might not understand what they are saying so I won’t get along with other students and the staff.

Guy Fawkes 2013

Guy Fawkes 2013

It was finally Guy Fawkes my dad bought some bad boy’s. We went straight outside with excitement. We had a perfect view from our van. We started off with our little sparkles. I was writing my name in the air. Even my little cousin was.

Then we were having a contest with our next door neighbours. We had these little boxes with heaps of fireworks. We were wondering what it would do. All of sudden it has such loud sounds and it was going everywhere.

I was wondering such a small thing does such loud noises. We found the cascades so we lit those and me and Sake threw them in the air. One almost landed on my mum because of Sake. She was so scared.

I was getting hungry so I went inside and had a little feed and came back outside and it was finished. So went in and started watching other peoples one. It was a fun night bonding with my family.

Touch Tournament

Touch Tournament

We all ready to go to our tournament at Dunkirk road. I was wondering who would be the next touch champions for 2013. I arrived at Dunkirk and we the school’s already there. I could see Pt England,G.I.P,Panmure Bridge and St Pie X. We got there and the schools started to stare at us like we were strangers. We got there and our T.P.S referees were already there. We all got settled down and started to practice. We started of by doing our stretches. After we focused on our catching and passing skills. Later we had a match against Glen Taylor and we beat them 6 to 3. We remembered to be humble winners and gracious losers. We shaked hands and we were proud for our win. We had our next game straight away after and we were versuing G.I Primary. We started first and got the 1st try for the day. We carried on they got the second try we were a bit down but we held our head up. Unluckily the time was finished but we carried on and one of the G.I Primary kids jumped out landed and got the ball out. The ref still called it as a try it was a disappointment for every body but still gracious losers. We lost 2-1 so it was a close game. We a 1 hour break. Then they called our name and we had Panmure Bridge next. We started of and scored straight away. It was our turn in defense I told sam come off so they scored. We carried on we won 6-1. It was finals against us and GI we were nervous still we kept our head high like a real team. We settled down but they started but we still worked as a team. We had a strong defense line. Unfortunately they scored and we were down by one. Miss Liddicoat told us to run it straight and make some meters. So me Kini and Darwin started working a rugby team. We made the meters and then it was final me and darwin had something we been practicing. We did it and we did it we got the try we deserved. It was game over it was a draw. We were surprised. It came to price giving unfortunately it was a decision so we had to come second. So I remembered the most important thing we worked as a team. Also I had fun and humble winner and gracious losers.
